When I was asked to get toe spreaders for my first yoga teacher training I thought that they looked weird, but I got them anyway since they were recommended by my teacher. Turns out these are a nice way to reverse some damage that your body has incurred over the years. Ever wonder why getting a pedicure feels so good when they spread your toes to paint them? It’s probably because it’s actually therapeutic. I personally don’t get pedicures, but I can still get the benefits by using these.
Some Benefits of Toe Spreaders:
- Improved balance
- Relieve foot pain, stress, and tension
- Reverse life-long imbalances
- Reduce injury
- Improved posture
- Improve speed (in running/walking)
- Alleviate (and possibly reverse) conditions like: plantar fasciitis, hammer toe, corns, bunions, blisters, claw toes, and overlapping toes
I’m not quite sure what all those foot problems are, but if you have any of those problems, you might want to give them a try. I only use mine like once a month or so because it just feels good to me. I feel it’s good for proper alignment and posture. I can feel them working by de-stressing things in me in general. After all, your feet and toes are your roots that ground you, so they need to be healthy and stable in order for the rest of your body to be strong. It feels so good to get some blood flow in there as shoes can be very restricting. As an added bonus you could use the time and attention to give yourself a pedicure while you’re de-stressing (no one likes crusty feet, moisturize those things). I got mine here, I’m not sure how safe the materials are, but these claim to be non-toxic. If you find any better options please let me know in the comments below.
Toe spreaders can be wore anywhere you feel comfortable. It’s recommended that you wear them everyday for 10 minutes if you are trying to correct something. They release connective tissue in the feet that connects up the body to the legs, hips, and back, thus increasing your flexibility and reducing your pain throughout. You will enjoy a nice massage that stimulates blood flow in the feet and helps you de-stress. If you want to test on yourself how they would feel, try putting your fingers in between all your toes at the same time and hold them there for several minutes.
